Reeni Bishay ’10 graduated with a Business degree at SMC and has been working full time at Comcast Communications in South Burlington, VT. Reeni was the winner of the 2010 Enterprise Plan Competition for her plan “Reeni’s Cookie Bar”(with teammates Kerry Hill and Melissa Mitchell), when she wowed the judges with both her presentation and the sample cookies she brought to the event. She has now has taken a giant step forward and started her dream job baking cookies, starting Reeni’s Cookie Bar in 2011 as a side-venture while she continues to work full-time. She currently sells her cookies online at www.reeniscookiebar.com and is now venturing into wedding catering for the wedding favors. She also sells through local retailers such as Natural Provisions in Williston, VT.

Accounting major Cheyne Samuel ’12 has accepted a position as a Staff Accountant at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, in Waterbury, VT.
Mark Karge ’11 is living in Beijing, China where he works as an English tutor while continuing his studies of Chinese language and culture through the Inter University Program at Tsinghua University. This is Mark’s fourth trip to the PRC, having first gone to the city of Shanghai as his Study Abroad semester in 2007. He plans to stay in Beijing until some time in 2013. His longer-term objective is to land a job with a firm active in China’s energy and/or auto sectors so that he can tap into his business and liberal arts education from Saint Michael’s, and his knowledge of Chinese language and customs. This past May, Mark was the subject of an interesting article in a widely-read online publication poststar.com:
On Monday, April 30th, 2012, the Department, in conjunction with Ingrid Peterson of the Office of Career Development, hosted a panel discussion in the Pomerleau Alumni Center on career opportunities in accounting . The panel featured four alumni: Will Meconi (McGladrey, Boston, MA), Jim Medeiros (PWC, Boston, MA), Stephanie (Parisi) Feeney (National Life, Montpelier, VT), and Josh Partlow (Johnson Lambert,Burlington, VT). The panelists talked about their respective career trajectories, as well as issues ranging from the value of doing an internship and when was the best time to do one, to strategies for completing the 150-hour requirement for the CPA designation, to the value of participating in a broad range of activities while in college. Fourteen AC majors attended the event, along with Profs. Steve Doyon and Frank Farina and department chairperson Robert Letovsky.
The presentations by each of the alums were followed by a lively exchange of ideas and insights during the Q&A period. Many thanks to Ingrid Peterson for putting it together!
Douglas Early ’06 is the Business Development Manager for TSG Solutions, Inc. based in Stoneham, MA. The company specializes in security-related risk assessment, master planning, engineering and design, as well as planning for emergency response and business operation continuity. Doug’s role is to acquire new accounts and to develop marketing strategies, materials and proposals for his territory which basically spans the East coast. Doug reports that working in a fairly small firm and in a division that is even smaller (seven employees), combined witht the quality of management he reports to, has “….been a great learning experience ….in terms of management and strategy”.
On May 27, 2012, Doug married Kathryn Leblanc of Gardner, MA. The couple lives in Methuen, MA.
